Student Rules & Policies
Our student rules and policies outline the expectations and standards of conduct within our academic community. It serves as a framework for promoting fairness, accountability, and mutual respect among students, faculty, and staff. By adhering to them, you play an essential role in maintaining a positive learning environment that fosters growth, collaboration, and success.
GENERAL POLICY
DISCIPLINE AND OFFENSES
LIGHT OFFENSES
- Engaging in any unauthorized assembly inside the College vicinity, resulting to the disruption, disturbance, or stoppage of classes;
- Instigating, conspiring or confederating with other students, staff, and Instructors to commit any slight infraction, violations or transgression of any College policies, rules and regulations.
- Wearing of indecent or provocative clothing or dress inside the College premises.
SERIOUS OFFENSES
- Forging or tampering of college records, forms or any other related records or written materials;
- Delivery of an offensive lewd and indecent speech;
- Carrying of deadly weapon that cause physical injuries or death;
- Dishonesty, sexual misconduct, grave threats, and possession and / or using prohibited drugs
- Falsification of grade or remarks in the transcript of records;
- Being drunk and disorderly in attending classes;
- Hooliganism like bullying, among others;
- Assaulting fellow student, college official, Instructor, Staff, or representative;
- Immorality – Possession, distribution, or use of any pornographic material, whether through smartphones, compact discs, magazines, posters, pictures, or illustrations;
- Estafa, theft
- Using College name and/ or logo without explicit prior written approval from the school official or its representative.
- Attempting to bribe the Instructor or college official;
COMPLAINTS AND RESOLUTION
The investigating officer shall furnish the respondent a notice of investigation containing the following;
- Copy of the complaint
- Order directing the respondent to file a written affidavit
- Date of the conference
JUDGEMENT & CASE RESOLUTION
The committee shall decide the case within 10 business days from the date of final submission of position papers or date of final conference/hearing, whichever is the later date. The decision of the committee is final unless appealed to the College authority.
A motion for reconsideration is considered an appeal. This motion shall state the reason/s and supporting evidence why the decision of the committee should be modified.

RETENTION AND DISPOSAL OF RECORDS
The College collects student personal information in an ethical manner, ensuring that personal information collected is necessary for program operation.
Retention and disposal of such shall be in accordance with the Student Record Regulation of Alberta and with the College Retention and Disposal Policy.
PERSONAL INFORMATION AND PRIVACY PROTECTION
All student records and files such as registration forms, transcript of records and diploma are meticulously kept and stored in a well-ventilated room and reasonably protected against unauthorized access. These are also backed up electronically and are under the custody and control of the designated College Authority.
Global College of Business and Technology strictly follows the rules in disclosing student’s information in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Policy and the Alberta’s Personal information Protection Act (PIPA) under Alberta’s Privacy Law.
ACADEMIC POLICY
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Students who attend classes regularly are more engaged in learning, have a greater sense of belonging to the community and are more likely to be successful in a class activity.
College Administrators work closely with students and Instructors to monitor student’s daily attendance in accordance with the College policy on attendance. Attendance records are kept on file and maybe shared with the Government Authorities upon request.
Policies on attendance are as follows:
- Upon registration, the student agrees to attend classes regularly including laboratory works, field trips and other academic-related matters.
- Student is required to attend a regular class of 20 hours per week.
- Excused absences may be granted upon submission of medical notes or by reasons of death of loved ones, sickness, and the like.
- Student who fails to inform the class of his/her absence will be marked as unexcused absence.
- Tardiness and cutting of classes will be treated in the same manner as unexcused absence.
- It is the student’s responsibility, in coordination with his/her respective Instructor, to comply with the missed assignments, lab works and quizzes within the given grace period.

ACADEMIC PROBATION
At Global College, we value the quality of education. Thus, we monitor our student’s academic performance including records of attendance. If a student fails to attend classes in five (5) consecutive days without prior notice, a student will receive a written warning from the Learner’s Training department.
