Academic Support
Course Extension
If the student has an approved excuse for absences or experienced extenuating circumstances that impacted their ability to pass their course, they may request a course extension that will give them thirty-five days to submit a missing course requirement.
The student must submit this course extension request form to [email protected] within ten days from the last day of the class. Any student approved for course extension will be subject to a ceiling grade of sixty percent (60%).
Course Retake
Global College grants up to one hundred sixty instructional hours to help students repeat their failed courses. However, due to the nature of student intake, the College cannot guarantee the availability of the class schedules, especially for prerequisites.
A student requesting a retake might incur additional tuition costs if 1. They still failed their course after the course extension has been granted 2. If the total number of courses exceeds one hundred sixty instructional hours. The student must complete a course retake form and submit it to [email protected] before they can retake their courses.
Change of Class Schedule
The college offers three class schedules.
- AM 8:30 to 12:30 noon.
- PM 5:00 to 9:00 pm.
- Weekend 9:00 to 5:00 pm
If your circumstances change and you require support to change your class schedule, fill out a change of class schedule form and email it to [email protected]. There is a $25.00 administration fee to process this request.
Request for academic support meeting
The College offers an academic support meeting to discuss available accommodations. Students meet with the academic manager to discuss the financial implications of their failing grades, the necessary action plans, the course schedule revision, and the identification of additional support to help them succeed. The College will send an academic support meeting reminder to the student. The student is expected to book this meeting pro-actively.
Academic Policies & Procedures
Attendance Policy
Global College programs are offered online synchronously. Student attendance is recorded daily with the help of the class instructor and academic coordinator. Verbal Notice is allowed if the student misses one of the classes. However, the student needs to fill out an excuse form and send it to [email protected] for absences of two days or more. Absences will be considered excused under the following circumstances.
- Family emergency
- Medical reasons
- Religious observance
Students are expected to arrange a catch-up plan with their instructors when they miss class and fail to submit the coursework.
The student will be marked absent if they have been called at least three times during the class and they do not respond (1), refuse to turn on their camera during checking of attendance (2), and do not participate throughout the class (3).
The student under government funding will be terminated from the school if they missed five unexcused absences or had thirty consecutive days of excused absences.
Academic Progress
The heart of Student Services is helping students achieve their training goals. We do this by ensuring you have all the necessary information, such as course outlines, book resources, and recorded instructional videos so you can take charge of your learning. Your academic progress report will also be shared to monitor your course completion rate and final grades.
The Global College and Business Technology passing grade is 60%. The final grades for each course are released and shared in real-time within five business days after each course ends. Students will receive academic progress reminders and warnings if they fail their courses.
Academic Probation and Termination
The student will receive a probation warning if they are not attending regularly and are not making course progress. They may not be allowed to continue to their next course until they meet with the academic manager to discuss their academic status. The student will be reviewed for termination if their attendance does not improve, and they have five or more failed courses that will likely lead to unsuccessful completion.
Withdrawal and Cancellation Funding Recalculation
If you canceled or did not start training and have notified us in writing, the College will refund 100% of your tuition, excluding the $500 registration fee and laptop allowance if applicable. The college is entitled to a registration fee if the program starts and the student does not provide proper notice of cancellation or withdrawal, even if they have not attended the program.
The College will refund the $500 Registration fee in the following cases.
- If the student terminates the contract within four business days after signing it.
- The College terminates the student contract before the program begins.
The Program did not begin by the start date, and the student decided not to continue.
Student dates of cancelation, withdrawal, termination, and the number of courses accepted and started attending are critical in determining tuition charges and funding recalculation. The formula for tuition is Tuition Fee divided by Total Program Hours multiplied by Hours per Course = Tuition Fee Per Course.
Grading System and Appeal Policy
Add the following to the existing wording. Appeal policy needs to be revised.
- A student will get a “W” (Withdrawn) on their grade records if they withdraw before the midterm of their current course.
- A student will get an “F” (Failed) on their grade records if they withdraw after the midterm of their current course.
